Threet Breaks Senior Win Streak On 23rd Birthday

Congratulations to Kacey Threet of Grove, OK who received quite a birthday present in the form of a victory over the field of 35 competitors Saturday at Kickingbird GC in Edmond, OK. The talented young player has only been golfing three years and recorded a gross score of 71. Threet edged out Michael Gatz by one stroke with a net score of -2.2 on his 23rd birthday. The two young longballers were the only players to break their handicap on the short, hilly course with bent greens easily running 11 on the stimp and swirling, gusty winds blowing in excess of 25 mph at times. For the fourth consecutive week a net score of +2.8 or higher was good enough to cash a check as 3 players finished tied for 9th, a rarity on the FairWay Tour since we do not round numbers in order to prevent ties...the +3 score of 73 was also good enough to win the Sr. Net Division. The Red River Cup Points Race is still projecting a $10,000 purse for the top 10 points winners at the end of the year. As of April 3rd, $2130 is in the pool with only 1 of 8 majors played (money into pool and points are double for majors). It is way too early to count ANYONE out of this race as the season is just getting started. We have completed only one of eight scheduled majors and 10 of a minimum 36 scheduled 1-day events. With the Masters being played this week the golf courses are full, which makes it a challenge reserving tee times to accommodate everyone...especially the last minute entries. Therefore, starting this week, if your entry is submitted and your deposit is paid online by Monday 5 pm prior to the event, you will receive an additional 5 points for EARLY REGISTRATION. Players will now receive 15 points for signing up early, paying deposit and participating in the event. You will receive 10 points if you pay your deposit and sign up after 9pm Monday but before 5pm Thursday. If you sign up after 5 pm Thursday it will be on space available basis only and you will receive 5 points for participating. Points are also given to the top five finishers in this order: 1st 50 2nd 40 3rd 30 4th 20 5th 10...This week's event has been moved from Tierra Verde GC to Coyote Ridge GC in our effort to provide you with the best conditions possible due to the aerification process. Coyote Ridge is located in Carrollton, TX. This golf course has a beautiful new clubhouse and is very challenging with some difficult par 3's. The tour tries its best to give you quality golf courses to play each week and this one certainly fits the bill. Sign up by Monday, April 4th at 9pm and get your automatic 15 Red River Cup Points...if you leave them sitting around it could make a big difference when the bonus checks are written! Tee Times start at noon.
