Risdon edges field at Waterchase to win $10,700

Dustin Risdon added 4.5 strokes to his gross scores of 68-70 to finish at 142.5 on the par 144 layout at Waterchase GC in Arlington, TX to win a total of $10,700 this past weekend. Dustin lost the Texas State Open in a playoff last month and thought he was beat again until the scores were finalized. Risdon edged Austin Green and Troy Mangone by less than a stroke as they were the only other players to break their handicap in the field of 62 players. Mangone was in the driver's seat as the final group came down the stretch. But a double bogey on 17 bumped Troy from a possible win to third place. The handicap system was in top form as everyone who signed up for this event thought they could beat their handicap by 1.5 strokes over 2 days. Scoring was a touch higher than most thought entering the event as a net score of 151 tied for the $680 16th place check... The FairWay Tour doesn't care if you are a 9 handicapper like Kyle Henley, who upset the low handicappers early in the year, or a touring pro like Dustin Risdon, who upset the high handicappers late...if you can beat your handicap you can win the big bucks on this tour! We hope to see you at our next event because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!"
