Stark gets first win this year at Tangle Ridge; MAJOR POLICY UPDATE FOR 2013

Bobby Stark has played 207 rounds of golf on the FairWay Tour since his first event at Olde Oaks GC in Shreveport, LA on December 13, 2003. Yesterday was the first time he recorded a score of even par. And he needed every stroke to count as he edged out upstart Paul Harris to get the win. Paul actually had a lower net score, but fell under Stage 2 qualifying policy, which states until a player records 20 rounds on THE FAIRWAY TOUR, that player is limited to no more than 5 under par (net) without adjustment. If a player shoots lower than 5 below his handicap during this time, that player will have the score entered into the system immediately to re-adjust his hcp for that day, which gave Paul a net score of -5 and second place money. The scoring has been exceptionally low the last 2 weeks on the tour, but that will likely change next week as the tour goes to Dornick Hills CC, where the fairways and greens are half the size of the courses we played the last 2 weeks. In addition, the par 70 course has only two par fives that require precision shotmaking, not four reachable par 5's as we have had the last 2 events. In other news, the FairWay Tour has experienced exceptional growth over the last year with the large cash payouts and social media. Until now, the player base was not strong enough to support qualifying restrictions for our MAJORS. But moving forward and starting with the first major in 2013 (all 2013 majors will be SUPER MAJORS with $10,000 being first place money with 44 or more players), ANY player must have four or five rounds (more research needed to decide whether it will be 4 or 5) recorded on the FairWay Tour within six months of the MAJOR they enter to be eligible. The days of new players and/or touring pros being able to enter majors without supporting the tour FIRST are over! We believe this new policy, along with the other policy updates for plus golfers and senior players, will make The FairWay Tour even better for our loyal members in 2013! We hope to see you at our next event because "IF YOU DON'T TEE IT UP YOU CAN'T WIN!"
