Green only player in red at Cypress Lakes with rare 5 shot victory

Andrew Green left no doubt who was the best player with or without handicap last weekend at Cypress Lakes GC. The 22 year old former NAIA All-American from UCO in Edmond, OK and +1.5 hcp fired a first round 67 followed by a second round 69 for a net score of 138.6 on the par 144 layout. The 5.6 stroke victory was the 2nd largest margin of victory for a major in the history of the tour. Andrew took home well over $8000 from the 36 player field. Chris Brown finished a distant 2nd at 144.2 as it was a low handicapper's weekend. The weather was breezy and nice on Saturday, but a Sunday morning downpour threatened to shorten the event to 18 holes. The 1 hr delay did not faze Green as he fired a front nine 32 Sunday to effectively put the tourney away. Great job Andrew, we hope this is the beginning of something big for you in 2013! The FairWay Tour's next major will be a one day event on Sunday, February 24th at TPC Las Colinas, home of the PGA Tour's Byron Nelson Classic. There is a mandatory $150 deposit for this event as final numbers must be submitted to the course by Monday, Feb 18th. This event is worth double bonus points and will pay $5000 to the winner w/40+. PLEASE SIGN UP NOW OR EMAIL TOUR DIRECTOR IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS EVENT! The tour has three events on the calendar this weekend. On Saturday, there will be events in Dallas at Tangle Ridge GC and West Texas at Gaines County GC. On Sunday, the tour goes to OKC for an event at Lincoln West GC.
