Vela wins with + 2.6 in Houston and Joiner wins with -3.6 in Dallas this past weekend

The FairWay Tour had three events the week of September 1-8 with the average winning net score being -1. Pete Vela got his first win at the lengthy High Meadow Ranch GC in Houston with a net score of +2.6 and Herb Joiner stays hot by winning at a very interesting layout, Thorntree CC, in Dallas over the weekend. Jared Johnson took home the winner’s check Thursday at Texas Star by firing a gross score of 67 that ended up being a net score of 69 (-2) per tour policy. Congratulations to all these players. The tour is very excited to host the remaining events on our schedule heading into the fall season! The next Super Major on our calendar will be played at Waterchase GC September 28-29. October brings us a pair of 2-dayers at awesome venues. Dornick Hills CC Oct 9-10 is Perry Maxwell’s original design (Southern Hills is another that comes to mind!) and is a tour favorite in Ardmore, OK. October 26-27 we will be playing TPC Las Vegas one week after the PGA Tour stop in Vegas. Hmmm, I wonder if the TPC courses will be in good shape for our event as well? The answer to that would be YES! And last but not least, the Tour Championship at a yet to be determined site in the D/FW Metroplex Nov 30 – Dec 1. These Super Majors will be worth triple bonus points and $10,000 to the winner with 44+ players. Eligibility requirements will be the same as the last 2 Super Majors. If you are unsure of your status, please contact tour director. We will also be updating the online calendar frequently to fill in the 1-Day event dates on the website thru November with quality golf courses. These tournaments should make for an exciting finish to the BONUS CASH RACE, which will pay $25,000 in bonus CASH to the top 20 after the Tour Championship. The tour has now paid over $500,000 to its members this year! Our next event will be held at Kickingbird GC September 14. We hope to see you there because…“IF YOU DON’T TEE IT UP YOU CAN’T WIN!”
