Phillips wins Super Major #10 in playoff with net score of 144.7; Tour Championship @ Walden on Lake Conroe next weekend!

Patrick Phillips won the first ever sudden death playoff to win a Super Major on the FairWay Tour and claimed the $6000 1st prize at Stonebridge Country Club's Hills Course Sunday afternoon. For the third consecutive event, a net score higher than par for the course has been a winner! Phillips and Randy Sims turned in identical 36-hole totals of 144.7. The FairWay Tour's unique scoring system uses decimal points to prevent ties...and 14 years and over 500 events later, we finally get a sudden death playoff due to a tie! The tour's playoff policy is simple...both parties must agree to a gross playoff without using a handicap or the money is split. Phillips (3.2 day 1 hcp and 3.1 day 2 hcp) and Sims (9.3 day 1 hcp and 9.0 day 2 hcp) decided they would like to do the playoff. Phillips birdied the 1st hole to get the win. Congratulations Patrick! The final event of 2014 will be played December 13-14 at one of my personal favorites, Walden on Conroe. Golf Digest thinks so too, as it is rated top 5 in Texas and Hole #11 is rated one of the best in the world. The tour's Bonus Cash Race is really heated as 6 players still have a chance to take home the 40% cut allotted to the winner after next weekend's Tour Championship and a host of others have a chance to climb into the top 4 and get paid. The remainder of the top 10 in the Bonus Cash Race will receive complimentary 2015 tour memberships. We hope to see you next weekend because..."If you don't tee it up you can't win!"
