Dornick Hills Provides Stiff Challenge as -1.4 Takes $5000 Prize

The 7th Annual FairWay Fall Classic at Dornick Hills CC was a success as a total of 41 players teed off on the traditional Perry Maxwell design. Congratulations to Chris Parnell of Arlington, TX, whose consistent play earned him the winner's check. The 2 handicap was the only player in the field to shoot below net par. Weather once again played a factor in the outcome of this event...Saturday was a gorgeous day for golf as temperatures reached 86 degrees without a breath of wind. 10 players were at net par or better with young pro Cade Mccracken, playing in his second professional event, firing a gross score of 65 on the par 70 layout to finish with a net score of 68 along with four other players who were at -2 or better. But true to form, the "Fall" in Fall Classic arrived Sunday morning as temperatures were in the mid 60s with a north wind at 15-25 mph. On this day, "Fall" took on another meaning as our leaders began to fall off the leaderboard. Mike Reinhardt, the leader after Day 1 at -4.7 with a gross score of 70, fired an 83 on Day 2 and fell completely off the list of money winners along with McCracken, who could only manage a gross score of 79 on Sunday. Let's give credit to Mr. Maxwell, whose design has withstood the test of time and at 6600 yds is all you need to use every shot in the bag!
