Chapman Wins Major 4 - The Tribute Yields Low Scores Under Benign Conditions

Congratulations to Donald Chapman of Decatur, TX, winner of Major #4 at The Tribute GC in The Colony, TX on 7/11-12.The Scottish links style course, designed for windy conditions, played the easiest of any major in the history of the FairWay Golf Tour since its inception, with all money winners finishing under par and 18 of the 21 players in the field shooting net par or better in at least one round of the 36-hole Championship. Tour money leader Jeremy Copeland said, "The course was great fun to play, but the players knew the scores were going to be low when you have no wind, 90 yd wide fairways, soft greens and perfect lies all day." Chapman's winning score of 135.3 was also the lowest winning total in 40+ majors dating back to 2001. Next week's event will be held Sunday, July 19th at Hawk's Creek GC, where competitors will receive a $50 credit w/12 or more players if they break their hcp and do not finish in the money. The online entry fee is $125 and first place is $1000 with 20 players.
