Net Score of +1.1 wins $2500+ in Austin! This week it is Prestonwood Hills Thursday and Kickingbird Saturday

The FairWay Golf Tour enjoyed its first Austin event in 5 years Saturday at Flintrock Falls CC in Lakeway, TX. Curtis Crabtree made the 5 hour journey from Longview, TX worth his time as he fired a net score of 73.1 to edge out home town boy Tye Grissom and earn $2570 in one day on the golf course! And not just any course as the Nicklaus designed track, nestled between the Hills of Lakeway and hosting the US Open Qualifier this week, boasted extremely nice greens and beautiful fairways with elevation changes and scenic views. A quick check of the scorecard shows Tye starting the day 5 over after his first 4 holes. But the +1 handicap recorded five straight birdies on holes 13-17 en route to a back nine 32 that got him within 1 stroke of Crabtree, who was quite the opposite, recording his first bogey on the 11th hole and falling from 2 under to 3 over the last 8 holes. At the end of the day, Tye got a second place finish that totaled $1935 (by a golfer with a plus hcp who was 5 over after 4 holes!) Ok, so there were 24 players and first place got $2570 and 2nd place got $1935...and over par wins using handicaps!! Please, please let us know if you can find another golf tour where 1st AND 2nd get PAID like that with scores like that! Oh, and on a golf course like that!!
