Fossil Creek Sunday & Rose Creek Saturday - SIGN UP NOW! Over Par Is A Winner At Walden As Stark Torches Bear Creek

The FairWay Tour has reshuffled the calendar somewhat due to weather this week. The event scheduled for Lantana tomorrow will be played February 27th. Although we are currently in the midst of a winter storm, the event at Rose Creek in OKC Saturday is still a go until further notice! The best weather event of the season could be Sunday at Fossil Creek...we hope you are able to participate! Last week, the FairWay Tour held two events that ended up being a classic example of how scoring works on the FairWay Tour! Let me start by saying we played the ball "UP" in fairways and bunkers at both events due to the very wet conditions. But here is the tale of the tape: Thursday at Bear Creek, 64 yr old Bobby Stark took advantage of the short course and local rules to fire a 1 over par 73 for a net score of 65.8 to get the win over a host of other red numbers. But Saturday at Walden, where the golf course was a bit more difficult, nobody was able to beat their handicap as Thomas Woods fires a net score of 72.8 to get the win as 76.4 cashes despite ball in hand! The simple fact is, if the course is easier and local rules permit ball in hand, the scores will be lower regardless if handicaps are used or not! Also, let's not get lost on the fact that at Bear Creek, the 64 year old Stark shot a 73! That after playing 13 events and three Super Majors, including Las Vegas, since September of last year and cashed a total of $785 before winning this event with only 17 players. Checking the 17-year FairWay Tour veteran's stats, his handicap was 3.9 after winning last September, before moving to 7.2 during the 4 month drought. His handicap now sits at 5.9. Great job Bobby!! So if you are the pessimistic player who has participated once since last summer only to complain about the system, maybe you should think twice...or at least play twice! I have listened to Bobby complain 13 times between victories! I know better than anyone that in this crazy game, only the winner is happy!
