Thorntree CC Proves Difficult as Field of 29 Players Fail to Break Par

As a player and Tour Director I heard varying opinions of Thorntree CC on Saturday afternoon. Aside from being in great condition one thing was certain...the course played every bit as difficult as its 75.2/144 rating. Thick rough, undulating and grainy bermuda greens along with the rolling terrain and tree-lined fairways were only the beginning. Throw in the nearly impossible pin positions along with the numerous out of bounds and water hazards on this course and you have a monster. Congratulations to Larry Goodson of Bedford, TX, who cashed an $1150 check with a net score of 73. If players enjoy a challenge, come join us next weekend for Major #5 at Stonebridge CC (Dye Course). This beautiful course, former host of the NCAA Championship and Tour Qualifying school, boasts generous fairways and bent greens. But it will also provide an entirely different challenge to our players with the Pete Dye design. Hope to see you at the course for this event with a green fee rate of $75/day, nearly half the normal guest rate to play this exclusive private club.
